Clonard Badminton Club won their 1st ever Club of the Year Award at the County Awards night in Foulksmills on Friday last.  The Wexford club have consistently achieved a top three placing over the past number of years and this was finally lifted to the top spot for the 2006 award.  Clonard finished just ahead of the 2005 winners New Ross with new club Monaseed taking 3rd spot.  In accepting the Jimmy Butler Perpetual Shield from the county chairman Jimmy Butler, Lee Healy paid tribute to the high standard set by the New Ross club in recent years and he expressed his delight at his club eventually achieving their ambition to win the award.  In his acceptance speech he stated that while the award was given to the club and its members it would not have been possible were it not for the dedication and commitment shown to the club by its hard working secretary and general organiser Clem Daly.
